Food Not Bombs is an all-volunteer organization that strives to eradicate hunger from this planet. We understand that hunger is one of the many symptoms of the disease known as capitalism. As long as we continue to submit to the rule of capital, the hungry will remain neglected, as the dollar's primary concern is to ensure it's own flow with our blood as it's lubricant. Food Not Bombs attacks capitalism by conducting three direct actions per week against the violent poverty created by the present system. Three times a week we distribute hot vegetarian food. Pittsburgh Food Not Bombs is committed to vegetarianism, anti-sexism, anti-homophobia, anti-racism, anti-capitalism, anti-hierarchy and consensus based decision-making. We strive to never mimic the injustices of capitalism that violently controls the globe.
We see how our city violently attacks those who are dis-infranchised, we see them trying to remove "un-desireables" from Market Square, we see how they set up so called "Safety Ambassadors", and how it is just a way for them to make money, we see how they want to move public transportation away from downtown because racist white people are scared of black people, we see it, we know it, we live it. We are here to stay! We will never leave those in need, because our voice is solidarity and our action is resistance, to the state and capital.
